I un-friended EVERYONE on Facebook
I know that telling you not to take it personal holds no weight, but please… don’t take it personal.
I’ve wanted to deactivate my Facebook account for months, now. The problem is that I have a few Facebook apps and a bunch of Facebook Pages attached to my account that I can’t get rid of.
So… by deactivating my account, my apps break. This isn’t good and I’ve been pissed off for some time that I’m locked in to Facebook like this.
So after the latest Facebook fiasco, I just unfriended everyone, removed all of my information and will treat the account as a dummy account, strictly used for development.
So why get rid of Facebook?
No, it’s not the privacy issues that all the other geeks are fleeing Facebook over. It’s not even the fact that I don’t actually like anything about it. It’s simply that Facebook has brought me more drama and trouble in the last year than any single entity has, ever. That’s the kind of thing you need to purge from your life. Like I said… wanted to do this months ago. Tried several times, but I’ve got apps attached to my account and I can’t seem to transfer them to a dummy account, which is upsetting.
I enjoy Facebook as a user authentication and promotional platform. I loathe Facebook as everything else it claims to be.
If you absolutely must have the Facebook experience with me, I prefer communication via email or text and if you are upset by this unfriending, then you should have my cell number or email address.
I would normally suggest you follow my Twitter account, but I barely have time for that anymore.
Thanks & apologies,
Alex
