I’ve never been to a wax museum, so we decided to check it out instead of heading home after the Art of Video Games exhibit.
I gotta say, these things were pretty lifelike in person.
I also wonder how they were able to mold Beyonce’s posterior. Like… who checks that to ensure accuracy?
The Smithsonian American Art Museum has an exhibit on video games as an expressive medum. The exhibit covers visual art, story telling techniques, and even coding as art. Loved this whole thing.
When Amanda mentioned wanting to go, I thought it would be cool but not as awesome. After actually getting there, it was incredible. I didn’t realize they’d take the craft of video game development so seriously and present it in a way that really validated the medium.
They also had “interactive exhibits”, that were clearly well selected games for the exhibit.
My only critique was that there was no Shadow of the Colossus1. That’s the first game I had a strong emotional connection and reaction to and it wasn’t in the exhibit (or maybe I missed it).
The exhibit will be open from March 16 - September 30th, so make some time to check it out over the summer.
